The DR BR 01 steam locomotives were tender-type locomotives of the “Deutsche Reichsbahn.” They were primarily used in heavy express train service. They were built between 1925 and 1938 by various manufacturers, such as AEG, Borsig, and Henschel, and were taken out of service in 1982. They reached top speeds of approximately 130 km/h and had a power output of approximately 2,200 PS.

The finished model can be powered by a Power Functions L-motor. The motor is installed in the cab, the battery box in the tender, and the IR receiver in the boiler. The model features numerous details, such as the functional undercarriage, the boiler superstructure, and the detailed cab (provided no motor is installed). Depending on the version, it consists of approximately 885 individual parts and is approximately 54 studs long including the tender. This version is equipped with Wagner air deflectors.
