The steam locomotives of the type G8.1 and later DR BR 55 were heavy freight locomotives, which were mainly used on main railway lines. A total of over 5000 copies were built. This made it the second most frequently built locomotive in Germany after the DR BR 52.
The finished model consists of approx. 1452 individual parts and can be motorized with the help of a Sbrick. The sbrick and the battery box are installed in the tender. The motorization takes place via an L-motor built into the boiler. The locomotive and the tender are also prepared for the installation of Power Functions LED lighting.
